Rhumba Joins St. Luke’s Medical Center 5th International Pathology Symposium
St. Luke’s Medical Center- Bonifacio Global City (SLMC-BGC) held its 5th International Pathology Symposium on February 1 and 2, 2018 with the theme: “GYNECOLOGIC PATHOLOGY and CYTOPATHOLOGY: CURRENT and EVOLVING PRACTICE.”
It is a privilege for Rhumba to be invited as one of the exhibitors on this event being attended by pathologists all over the country.

Annual CSR Activities held at Lipa and Bulacan
On December 4, 2017, our President/CEO- Ms. Anabelle Escalante, initiated to give back to her hometown in Paltok, Angat, Bulacan by giving Noche Buena packages in the less fortunate. Over 200 families benefitted from the said activity.
This was followed by another Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity in Lipa District Hospital where patients confined in pediatric ward were given toys, balloons and Noche Buena packages, too. The said event was led by Mr. Billy Joel Ebora, one of our Area Managers.
With all the blessings the company has received this year, it is our pleasure to give back and be of service to others, most especially to the needy.

On December 9, 2017, two of our very own conducted lectures in the recent Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET) Mindoro Chapter- 2017 Post Grad Seminar with the theme: “Seminar in Ethics and Professionalism.”
Ms. Reyna Sarabia, our Application Specialist, presented “Pre-Analytical Variables in Coagulation” while, Ms. Aileen Busquit, our Product Development & Customer Care Manager, lectured “Everyday Leadership in the Workplace.”
The activity was held at the Conference Hall of Oriental Mindoro Provincial Hospital and attended by Medical Technologists of both Oriental and Occidental Mindoro.

Rhumba Sealed Membership with IVD-DAP
On May 19, 2017, In-Vitro Diagnostics Distributors Association of the Philippines, otherwise known as IVD-DAP, held its first ever Oath Taking ceremony in Limbaga 77 restaurant at Quezon City.
The said activity was facilitated by IVD-DAP President, Mr. Rex Tiri, the president of Lifeline Diagnostics Inc. The Code of Conduct of the association was discussed followed by Oath taking ceremony and committee assignments of each company members. Rhumba will chair the committee for Membership. IVD-DAP was established to promote ethical business practice in the field of diagnostics and address concerns affecting the industry. |
2017 Team Building held in Alfonso, Cavite
On April 29- 30, 2017, Rhumba held its annual team building conference in the nature-inspired Pollas Farm, Alfonso, Cavite.
The said activity was facilitated by AIB company, headed by Mr. Jess Villaflor.
It was a two-day activity comprising of lectures, brainstorming sessions and group activities that enable the employees to exercise leadership, cooperation and strengthen inter-departmental links.

Sysmex Launches Latest Hematology Analyzer: XN-330
On January 18, 2017, Sysmex Philippines launched its latest addition in the XN-L series, the XN-330 hematology analyzer. The event was held in Marriott Hotel, Pasig City.
Mr. Hidetaka Ogawa, Senior Manager for Business Administration and Planning from Sysmex Asia Pacific, together with Mr. Romeo Joseph Ignacio, VP and General Manager of Sysmex Philippines unveiled the latest instrument.
XN-330 is designed for small laboratories while enabling them to report Immature Granulocytes whenever present in a sample. Initially, Immature Granulocytes are made reportable by Sysmex with their XN series which fits high sample volume laboratories only.
The instrument also uses the same reliable principle of Fluorescence Flow Cytometry, proven technology employed by Sysmex to its high-end hematology analyzers.
Truly, Sysmex XN-330 made advanced complete blood count result more accessible to more diagnostic laboratories.

On February 24, 2017, Rhumba held its annual Kick-off celebration at Bellevue Hotel. The said event was attended by the whole company headed by their very own President and CEO, Ms. Anabelle Escalante.
The event commenced in a Chinese-inspired dinner at Phoenix Court restaurant, followed by recognition of 2016 awardees and blissfully ended with booze and beats at the hotel’s Vue Bar.

First Therapeutic Plasma Exchange Therapy Using Fresenius Kabi Com.Tec Machine in South Luzon Conducted
On January 7, 2017, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center conducts its first Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE), otherwise known as Plasmapheresis, to one of its patients with Myasthenia Gravis. The said procedure was headed by Dr. Zillien Andal, one of their hematologists.
The procedure was made possible using Fresenius Kabi Com.Tec machine, mainly used for Platelet Pheresis. This machine is also capable of Stem Cell collection, Leukoreduction, and TPE. TPE is applicable as one of treatment for cases of Myasthenia gravis, Guillen Barre syndrome and for prevention of Post-Transplant rejection. This can also be used for other autoimmune diseases, where applicable. According to Dr. Andal, TPE is a stable system with very minimal pharmacologic side effects and offers patient with economical and comfortable treatment. Three sessions conducted every other day to the patient and was discharged the next day. Number of sessions will depend on the severity of the case. |
